Happy 73rd, Merle
When I started following Merle Haggard, it was via the Burrito Brothers. Gram Parsons and Merle had a
complicated relationship, a combination of admiration and disdain. The more I've listened to him over the years, the more convinced I am of how underrated he is.

Rock and Rock Animal
When I used to live in downtown NYC, I used to see Lou walking around pretty often. My weirdest sighting though, has to be at the Printing House health club, on the day I got married. To burn off some jitters and expected caloric intake, my (in a matter of hours) wife and I went to lift and use the treadmill. There was Lou in his low white converse sneakers and black socks, peddling away on an exercise bike. Still one of my favorite memories of the day.
Happy birthday, Uncle Lou.

Happy Birthday, Steve Jobs
I'm one of those people who liked Apple until everyone else did (and yes, I was the same way with Springsteen). I know Steve Jobs is a visionary but his messianic zeal bothers me sometimes (and yes, I am the same way with Bono). In this case, I am going to be the bigger man and wish Mr. Jobs a Happy 55th Birthday.
I just wish this link was to real Steve Jobs' blog: http://www.fakesteve.net/
